Former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has clarified that he has not held recent talks with the Ghana Football Association, despite renewed public interest in the possibility of him representing the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Crystal Palace forward, who scored 38 goals in 168 games for Arsenal before his £30m move in 2024, remains eligible to change nationality under Fifa rules.

The GFA has approached him in the past, as it continues to engage diaspora players, including Chelsea defender Joshua Acheampong.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo recently revealed that some players who previously declined Ghana’s interest have reconsidered with a World Cup on the horizon. However, Nketiah insists he has not received any fresh communication.

“I haven’t had any calls or anything recently,” he said.

“My focus has been on playing well each week and helping my team win trophies. If I’m doing well and doing the right things, then naturally the international future will resolve itself when it’s time to make that decision.”

Nketiah, born to Ghanaian parents in London, remains open to the possibility but is in no rush to commit either way.
