English defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, along with other officials from Real Madrid, paid tribute to the late striker Diogo Jota at Anfield ahead of the Champions League match against Liverpool.

The 26-year-old was joined by Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, Dean Huijsen, and club legend Emilio Butragueño to lay flowers in remembrance of the player.

Alexander-Arnold placed a wreath, a handwritten message, and a red PlayStation 4 controller to honor Jota’s love for gaming and his signature goal celebration.

The tribute also commemorated Jota’s brother, Andre, who died alongside him in a tragic car accident.

“My mate Diogo, you are so missed but still so loved. Yours and Andre’s memory will always live on. I smile every time I think about you and will always remember the great times we shared. Miss you, mate, every day. Forever 20. YNWA. Love, Trent and family,” read Alexander-Arnold’s handwritten message.

The gesture was warmly received by football fans around the world on social media.

This tribute comes as Los Blancos prepare to face Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in a blockbuster encounter.

Trent has been sidelined for months and unable to feature prominently for the Spanish side since leaving The Reds on a free transfer due to injuries.

Xabi Alonso hinted that Alexander-Arnold could play a few minutes against his former club, as he is still recuperating from an injury.
