Ghanaian sprint star, Benjamin Azamati has taken a big leap off the track into romance.

The 27-year-old former national 100-metre record holder proposed to his Italian girlfriend, Raquel Chavez, in a breathtaking, movie-like setting that has since melted hearts across social media.

The proposal took place aboard a luxury yacht, surrounded by calm blue waters and stunning views believed to be along Italy’s iconic Amalfi Coast, possibly in the picturesque town of Positano.

Against the backdrop of cascading hillside buildings and the sparkling Mediterranean, Azamati went down on one knee to pop the question.

Raquel, visibly emotional, said “yes” to the Ghanaian speedster in what appeared to be an intimate and beautifully planned moment.

The pair, who first met at West Texas A and M University, have shared a long journey, from college life to global athletics and now, to the start of a new chapter.

Photos from the proposal have since gone viral, capturing Azamati in his element, confident yet tender as he held out the ring to his fiancée.

The moment was as graceful and composed as his finishes on the track, symbolizing a personal victory of a different kind.

Azamati, who has represented Ghana at the Olympics and led the national 4x100m relay team, continues to be one of the country’s brightest sporting icons.
