The Black Queens of Ghana have received their bonuses The Black Queens of Ghana have received their bonuses

After days of uncertainty and a threatened boycott, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation has finally settled all outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queens.

The situation, which nearly disrupted Ghana’s second-leg tie against Egypt in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, was resolved after an emergency meeting involving Sports Minister Kofi Adams and GFA President Kurt Okraku.

The players went on to deliver an emphatic 4-0 victory in Accra, sealing a 7-0 aggregate win and their ticket to Morocco.

But what exactly did the team receive? Here’s a breakdown based on official reports.

Check out Black Queens player ratings after 4-0 win over Egypt

    Standard winning bonus structure

Under Ghana’s national team framework, each player and technical team member is entitled to $1,500 per win. During the 2024 WAFCON campaign, the Queens recorded three key victories:

One group stage win, a quarterfinal win, and the third-place playoff win.

This amounted to a total of $4,500 per player (1,500 x 3 wins) under normal conditions.

However, in a gesture aimed at boosting morale and recognizing the team’s overall achievement, Minister Kofi Iddie Adams pushed for an enhanced bonus package.

Even though the Queens secured just one group-stage win, the Minister approved payments as if they had won all three, effectively granting the full $4,500 group stage bonus.

He also increased the quarterfinal bonus to $2,000 and the third-place bonus to $3,000, bringing the total per player to $9,500.

As such, each player ultimately received $9,000, with $500 withheld for standard tax and transaction deductions applied to all government payments.

According to the reports, officials have clarified that there was no shortfall in the final payments; the deductions were in line with public financial disbursement regulations.

    Technical team and coaching staff

The 22-member technical team each received $4,500, reflecting the standard 3-win tally. The head coach, in accordance with established practice, earned double the staff bonus, $9,000.
