Senegal attacker, Pape Matar Sarr has called for action following the death of his compatriot Cheikh Touré, who tragically lost his life in Ghana.

In a statement released by Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, it was revealed that Cheikh Touré had been invited to Ghana by fraudsters under the pretense of securing a professional football deal but ended up getting killed.

According to investigations by the Embassy of Senegal in Ghana, they were notified of the incident on October 18, although it occurred on October 17, 2025.

Reacting to the tragedy, Matar Sarr urged authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The Crystal Palace attacker expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and emphasised the need to protect footballers from falling victim to false promises.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic passing of young Cheikh Touré, a hope of Senegalese football. Gone far too soon, under circumstances that remind us all how urgent it is to protect our young talents from false dreams and the traps of certain networks.

“My thoughts and prayers accompany his family and loved ones in these painful moments. May justice be served. Rest in peace, little brother,” he wrote on X on October 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, it was indicated that representatives from the Embassy of Senegal will join the investigation team in Ghana to thoroughly probe the incident and bring the culprits to justice, in order to prevent future occurrences.
