Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted it is “theoretically possible” he could return to manage the club in the future, although he insists he has no immediate desire to return to the dugout.

Speaking on the Diary of a CEO podcast, the 58-year-old said his promise never to manage another English club means a future comeback to Anfield remains the only option.

“I said I will never coach a different team in England, so that means, if [I did return], then it’s Liverpool. So, yeah, theoretically it is possible,” Klopp said.

Klopp ended his nine-year stay at Anfield in May 2024, having overseen 491 games and delivering every major trophy available, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup.

Now serving as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, a role he officially began in January 2025, Klopp revealed he remains happy in his current position and does not miss the pressures of frontline management.

“I don’t even know exactly. I love what I do now. I don’t miss coaching. I don’t. I do coach, but it’s just different, it’s not players. I don’t miss it. I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours. I also don’t miss going to press conferences three times a week,” he added.

While Klopp made it clear he has no short-term plans for a managerial comeback, his comments have sparked excitement among Liverpool fans, who continue to view him as one of the club’s greatest-ever managers.

For now, the German is content watching from afar, but his words have ensured that the door to Anfield, at least in his heart, remains slightly open.
