A black Audi plunged into a river in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, China, on October 14 after swerving to avoid an elderly woman on an electric bike, trapping the driver inside as it sank.
Former soldier Di Shuangcheng, 40, bravely leapt into the water and smashed the sunroof with a rock to free the driver with help from a police officer.
