The wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, Akosua Serwaa, along with his sister, Ernestina Fosuh, has formally petitioned Ghanaian and German authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death, citing conflicting accounts of his final moments.
In a document dated October 13, 2025, and signed by the Fosuh family secretary on behalf of Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosuh, the family expressed concern over what they describe as “contradictory statements” regarding the events leading up to the musician’s death.
The petition was addressed to the German Embassy in Ghana, the Federal Criminal Police Office in Germany, and Ghana’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Lumba’s siblings will also head to court – Family representative discloses
According to the family, inconsistencies in the account provided by the musician’s second wife, popularly known as Odo Broni, have raised serious suspicions and caused emotional distress among relatives.
They have accused her of negligence during Lumba’s reported illness and of giving misleading information after his passing.
In the petition, it has also been alleged that on the day of his death, Daddy Lumba reportedly called a friend to say he was unwell.
However, when the friend arrived at his home, he was allegedly denied access by a woman believed to be Odo Broni. After waiting for approximately two hours without being allowed entry, the friend left, only to be later informed that the musician had died.
Further suspicion was raised when Odo Broni reportedly gave two different accounts of the events.
“Ms. Priscilla O. initially informed the family during the first family meeting that Mr. Fosuh had been taken to the Bank Hospital, where he received an injection that caused him severe pain before he passed away.
“However, the following day, when Kwasi, a cousin of the late Mr. Fosuh, approached her with the same question, she gave a different account, stating that Mr. Fosuh had actually died at home, and that she had cleaned and dressed the body before calling a friend, identified as Serwaa A., to assist her in taking him to the hospital,” part of the statement read.
The family also referred to a police report that appeared to add more confusion to the situation.
According to the report, Daddy Lumba was first taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan before being transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“These contradictory versions have left the family deeply concerned and distressed, raising serious questions about the true cause of death and whether proper medical and investigative procedures were followed,” the statement added.
As part of their petition, Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina are calling for an investigation into the musician’s death.
They have asked the authorities to question both Odo Broni and Daddy Lumba’s manager, Roman Fada, who they believe could assist in clarifying what really happened.
“The family is also calling on the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to question Ms. Priscilla O. and Mr. Philip Kwabena A. (also known as Roman Fada) to assist in uncovering the truth about the death of their loved one, Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosuh,” the statement concluded.
