Rev Charlotte Oduro (L) has adviced Akosua Serwaa (M) and Odo Broni (R) Rev Charlotte Oduro (L) has adviced Akosua Serwaa (M) and Odo Broni (R)

Ghanaian counsellor and motivational speaker, Rev. Charlotte Oduro, has weighed in on the ongoing legal dispute between Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni, wives of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, over spousal rights and funeral arrangements.

In a video shared on Instagram and sighted by GhanaWeb on October 15, 2025, Rev. Oduro urged the women to refrain from drawing public attention to themselves and instead resolve their differences privately and peacefully.

She emphasised that the damage had already been done, and for the sake of the children, both parties should set aside past misunderstandings and unite to give the late musician a dignified burial.

“Why don’t they allow peace to rain. These things can be handled, and whether we like it or not, these women have children with him. So, I would plead with the family to cover the shame and sit these two women down to settle the issue,” she said.

Rev. Charlotte Oduro further stated that the family of the late Daddy Lumba should counsel his children to prevent them from following in their father’s negative footsteps.

I didn’t die, I’m a testimony for women who refused to be silenced – Charlotte Oduro

“They should speak to the children about the consequences of their father’s lifestyle, so they don’t repeat the same mistakes. At this point, there’s no need to argue about who the main wife or side chick is, the damage has already been done,” she added.

    Court battle

Akosua Serwaa, who identifies as the only surviving spouse of the late musician, has filed a writ at the High Court in Kumasi, seeking official recognition of her marital status.

She is also requesting an injunction to halt the upcoming funeral and burial arrangements, which she claims were planned without her consent.

According to her suit, the funeral date of December 6, 2025, which was announced on DL Radio, was set by members of Daddy Lumba’s extended family without any consultation with her or her children.

She maintains that, as the legal wife, she should have been included in these decisions.

    Allegations and demands

The suit names Priscilla Ofori popularly known as Odo Broni, and Abusua Panin Kofi Owusu, the family head, as defendants.

Akosua Serwaa has accused them of “collaborating to engage in fraudulent acts” related to the planning of the funeral and burial.

‘Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni are only fighting because of Lumba’s properties’ – Okatakyie

Her plea to the court also includes an order to prevent the second wife and family members from taking custody of Daddy Lumba’s body from the morgue.

She has insisted that she alone has the right to perform widowhood rites as his lawful spouse.
