Gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng has said he plans to formally dissolve his marriage in light of the ongoing legal dispute between the widows of the late Daddy Lumba.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM, Boateng stated that he would go to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to initiate a divorce process over fears that his estranged partner may falsely claim to be the rightful spouse after his death, a situation he sees playing out in Daddy Lumba’s ongoing widowhood dispute.

“Looking at what is going on. I even plan to go to the KMA to break my marriage. It’s scary that after separating from your wife, when you die, she will come and fight with your family that she is the rightful wife. I cannot let that happen. She left me, so I will take the initiative and go to the authorities to properly dissolve the marriage,” he said.

Boateng’s remarks come following his long and public history of financial loss tied to marital breakdown.

In earlier interviews, he revealed that after marriage, he lost a fleet of 17 cars and all his other properties.

According to him, his then-wife encouraged him to spend lavishly, and she eventually divorced him after relocating to the United States.

The gospel singer also said the breakdown of his marriage left him struggling, at times unable to provide basic provisions like school fees for his children.
