Veteran actor Fred Amugi has revealed the reason he vowed never to share a movie set with popular Kumawood actor Agya Koo, citing an incident he described as deeply disrespectful.
Speaking in an interview with MC Portfolio on Kumasi-based Angel FM, Amugi recounted the experience, which took place in the early years of Agya Koo’s acting career.

According to him, he travelled all the way from Accra to a filming location near Sunyani for a movie shoot. Everything was set, but hours passed with no progress because Agya Koo was nowhere to be found.
When Amugi inquired why filming hadn’t started, the director informed him that they cannot proceed without Agya Koo.
He said the actor eventually showed up late at night but, instead of apologizing or preparing to shoot, told the director that he doesn’t work at night and preferred to begin filming the next morning.
Fred Amugi said the incident left him upset, as he believed no actor had the right to dictate shooting schedules to a director.

He stressed that everyone on set had made sacrifices for the production and that Agya Koo’s refusal to work that night was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful to both the crew and fellow actors.
“Back in the day, we were supposed to shoot a movie around Sunyani. It was a night scene, so we waited for Agya Koo to arrive, only for him to say he doesn’t work at night. How is that even possible? How can an actor tell the director when they will or won’t work?
“No actor has the right to tell a director they only shoot during the day or at night. I was really hurt when Agya Koo said that because I have paid my dues in the industry. So the next morning, when it was time to shoot, I also told the director that I don’t shoot in the morning, and I didn’t act in that movie either,” Fred Amugi lamented.
