The family of Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, the wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has released a strong-worded statement pushing back against the funeral committee and other related matters with regards to his upcoming funeral.

In a press release seen online dated October 9, 2025, and signed by the Family Secretary on behalf of the direct family, the statement expressed shock that funeral plans for the late singer were being publicly announced on social media without any consultation with his legal wife or children.

“Hearing about your own husband’s funeral plans for the first time through social media is deeply distressing,” a part the statement said.

The press release also accused Abusuapanyin Kofi Wusu and the funeral committee of acting in their own interests, without regard for the wishes and rights of the deceased’s direct family.

The statement further emphasized that Daddy Lumba was legally married to Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh under German law since December 23, 2004, in Bornheim, Germany.

Lumba’s first wife also cited the German Civil Code and indicated that per that law no one already in a legal marriage in Germany can enter into another, which means Lumba’s marriage to Odo Broni is illegal.

The statement further announced that the direct family had filed an injunction against both the proposed funeral date and burial arrangements, citing confusion and lack of proper communication” from the funeral committee.

They emphasised that until proper dialogue and consensus are reached, the family says no official funeral plans should proceed.
