Ghanaian stand-up comedian Lekzy DeComic has narrated how he was physically assaulted twice by some individuals over some jokes he made.
In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Henry Mensah on Saturday, September 27, 2025, Lekzy DeComic recounted, “I have been physically attacked twice, but I think the issue was rectified. They didn’t understand that it was a joke. But gradually Ghanaians are getting to understand that it is a joke,” he said.
He added, “Comedy is one of the risky jobs because every joke has a victim, and once you tell a joke, somebody in the audience might not be happy with what you are saying.”
He made this revelation during his ‘FBI’ comedy special held in Accra, where he and several other Ghanaian comedians kept the audience laughing throughout the night.
Some key people pushed a propaganda that the comedy industry was dying – Lekzy DeComic reveals
Lekzy DeComic further expressed gratitude to his colleagues and the public for supporting his show.
According to him, even though there is more room for improvement, he believes he achieved his target.
“There is always room for improvement, but the numbers were great. I actually booked the ground flow, and it got packed. The target for the event was achieved. I repeated this auditorium because the feedback I got last year was super great.
“I realised people loved it, so I decided to bring it back again… Those I wanted, I got them; nobody was left out. I cannot put everybody on my show. This year, I billed a lot of comedians, which made the show drag late into the night,” he added.
Lekzy Decomic held his comedy event at the UPSA auditorium, where the likes of General Ntatia, Jeffery Nortey, South African comedian Chris Mapane, among others, entertained the audience with their interesting jokes.
