Actress, filmmaker and former Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority, Juliet Asante, has clarified that she has not abandoned acting, despite being away from the screen for some time.

In an interview with Ghana Weekend, she explained that her time away was not an exit from the film industry but a deliberate pause to rest and reconnect with other passions she had long wanted to pursue.

According to her, she felt the need to step back and give attention to projects and creative interests that she had been unable to focus on.

The actress disclosed that she has recently completed a script and hinted that audiences may soon see her working on a new film.

She described this phase of her career as one where she is returning to the things she has always loved, with the promise of more exciting announcements in the near future.

“I haven’t stopped acting. Maybe I’ll come back to it. In fact, right now I’m focusing, I’m going back to the things that I really used to love doing, things that I’ve wanted to do for a while but haven’t been able to.

“So, first of all, I needed to rest. I rested a bit. And then, you know, I’m going to be coming up with all these fascinating things, things that I’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done. I just finished my script, so maybe I’ll start working on my next film.

“So, yeah, fascinating things. You’ll be hearing some of the announcements,” she said.
