Following a viral video on social media in August 2024 that claimed Ghanaian actor Michael Pesah, popularly known as Drogba, had been healed of his medical conditions during a visit to Christ Embassy Airport City (CEAC), new details have emerged.

Earlier, a video that circulated online claimed that the actor had been miraculously healed of a rare neurological disorder during his visit to Christ Embassy Airport City (CEAC).

While many Ghanaians expressed joy at the news, others were skeptical about the authenticity of the healing.

However, in an interview with DJ Slim on “Street Is Watching” on September 19, 2025, Drogba revealed that the viral misinformation and perception caused many people to stop donating toward his medical care.

According to the Yolo Star, even former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who had initially promised to support him financially, was among those whose donations stalled.

“When the misinformation happened, I was still going to the hospital. Some people who had donated said I should bring the money back. I am still getting medication as well.

“He (Bawumia) wasn’t the only one whose donation has stalled because a lot of people have halted. One thing I want to tell the general public is that what the blogger posted was actually false,” he said.

When asked whether the church shared the healing video on social media with his consent, Drogba clarified that the footage was released without his approval, an act that has caused more harm than good.

“No, they didn’t. I didn’t even know that video had come out. I don’t know why that video came out, and I feel like if you are winning souls for someone, you don’t have to step on someone’s toe because you don’t know what the person is going through,” he added.

    Drogba’s health battle

In 2024, the actor publicly revealed that he was suffering from multiple illnesses, sparking massive concern.

He disclosed that he has been living with sleep apnea, several debilitating disorders, and Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms.

Also, he has been battling GAD-positive cerebellar ataxia, which impairs coordination and balance. Additionally, he experiences persistent visual disturbances, tremors, and dizziness.

    GoFundMe appeal

In August 2024, the actor launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $280,000 to fund his medical treatment abroad.

He explained that the high costs of ongoing care had severely drained his financial resources, leaving him no choice but to appeal for public support to access treatment overseas.
