Belgium footballer of Ghanaian descent, Jeremy Doku, has opened up about his Christian faith.
During Manchester City’s 3-0 win over their arch-rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on September 14, 2025, Doku provided two assists, with Haaland scoring a brace.
Speaking after the game, the Belgium international indicated that he had decided to undergo baptism as a Christian to affirm his faith in Christ.

He noted that although a person may be baptised in childhood, it is important to reaffirm their faith in adulthood after repentance.
“For me, today was already a victory day. Why? Because I knew that after the game, I’m going to be baptised. As a Christian, when you get baptised, your old nature, your old sinful nature, dies, and you start living with God.
“You resurrect with God, with Jesus Christ. You can do that as a kid, but normally it’s meant for when you’re older and you really understand what you’re doing,” he said, as reported by the BBC.
According to reports, Doku’s faith was influenced by his Belgium international teammate Romelu Lukaku, who had been engaging him on such issues.
He further added, “It’s the centre of my life. There’s nothing more important to me than my faith.”
