Renowned Ghanaian film producer, Abdul Salam Mumuni has urged musicians and fellow filmmakers to unite in promoting local movies, even when they are not directly part of a project.

Speaking at the National Film Dialogue held in Accra on September 16, 2025, Mumuni emphasized that artistes and other industry stakeholders should use their social media platforms to help promote movies of their colleagues.

Is Ghana’s movie industry in danger if DStv exits the market?

He lamented that many performers tend to promote only films they star in and that affects other productions.

“The artistes, we need them; they need to help promote when a movie is coming out. When artistes are not in a movie, they don’t promote. But if we want the industry back, we should look at what our colleagues are doing; they help each other. We need to do that.

“If any movie is coming out, all of us, on our social media handles, need to help promote it,” he said in the event captured by GhanaWeb.

He stressed that this united push is vital if the movie industry is to bounce back.

“So please, this is the time we need to come together and support each other,” he added, stressing that mutual support will help the industry thrive.

The National Film Dialogue, held at the Cedi Conference Centre of the University of Ghana under the theme “Accelerating Industry Development,” saw various industry stakeholders; including representatives from the creative arts ministry, the National Film Authority and many others.
