Comedian DKB has downplayed the relevance of the planned anti-galamsey demonstration scheduled for September 23, 2025, describing it as unnecessary.
He urged organisers and citizens to trust President John Mahama’s assurances that the issue of illegal mining is being addressed.
According to DKB, President Mahama has proven in the past that he delivers on his promises, citing the president’s handling of Ghana’s energy crisis, popularly known as “dumsor.”
He argued that just as Mahama intervened to fix that national challenge, he should also be trusted to deal with galamsey without the need for mass protests.

The comedian explained that during the height of the power crisis, public pressure mounted, and people even staged demonstrations.
He said Mahama intervened with concrete actions, ensuring the restoration of stable power.
DKB noted that since then, Ghanaians have not experienced the same level of power outages, which, to him, is proof of Mahama’s credibility.
He further suggested that instead of hitting the streets, citizens should allow the president time to work.
You feared Akufo-Addo but attack Mahama? – DKB ‘roasts’ Manasseh
“Yo, this is my message to those who want to organise the anti-galamsey demonstration. Listen, when JM, President Mahama, tells you he is working on something, he is really working on it. He’s not like the others.
“I remember the Dumsor video. He said he was working on the Dumsor. We thought he was playing, so we went to the demonstration. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the end, who solved Dumsor for us? This year, 9 months, not a single night or day of darkness.
“You understand? So if JM says he’s working on it, he is working on it.
He is not lying. He doesn’t do Chandam and Vandam. But if you insist, I want to inform you that if you insist on doing the anti-galamsey demonstration, don’t panic.
“JM practises democracy. He doesn’t fear demonstration. He sees it as a form of expression. Do you know what? When we were going to the dumsor demonstration, the day of the demonstration, he came to fix street lights for us so that we would not fall into a gutter.
“Imagine! So, you that you want to do your anti-galamsey demonstration, just know that the day of your demonstration, he will organise sound system and brass band for you, for you to enjoy yourself. He will come and share free water,” DKB stated in a video shared on his social media.
