Fatal Truck Accident Near Petrol Station on Cape Coast–Accra Highway Claims Life of Security Man

A tragic accident on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway has claimed the life of a security man near the House of Chiefs regional office.

According to eyewitness accounts, a heavy-duty truck lost control earlier today after hitting the poorly maintained ramps on that stretch of the road. The truck veered off, crashing near a petrol station and spilling its load.

When bystanders and motorists first arrived at the scene, traffic was slowed and the truck was seen toppled by the roadside. The lifeless body of the victim, however, went unnoticed beneath the wreckage.

Reports indicate that the deceased, a security man at the House of Chiefs, had moments earlier told colleagues he was heading to the nearby petrol station to purchase an item. When they could not reach him by phone, staff members decided to trace his steps. Petrol station attendants confirmed he had stopped there but left heading back toward his post.

It was only after the truck was lifted and the spilled goods cleared that his body was discovered trapped beneath the vehicle. House staff later identified him.

One bystander recounted how the truck had been overspeeding moments before the accident. He narrowly escaped after swerving into the petrol station as the truck zoomed past, hit the ramps, and toppled, fatally striking the security man in the process.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the dangers posed by reckless driving and poorly maintained roads. A life was cut short in seconds, leaving colleagues and loved ones in shock and grief.
