Ghanaian stand-up comedian, DKB, has strongly criticized investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni following the latter’s recent comments on the government’s fight against illegal mining (galamsey).

In an X post shared on September 12, 2025, DKB accused Manasseh of taking advantage of President Mahama’s perceived leniency to openly criticise him.

He questioned why Manasseh remained silent during the administration of former President Akufo-Addo, yet now feels bold enough to speak out against the current president.

“Because you know he’s lenient, see how you’re shitting on him. If only you were like this towards Nebuchadnezzar when he was in power,” he said.

DKB added, “Wasn’t it this same galamsey he was fighting that caused the perishing of the 8 precious souls?” he quizzed.

His comment comes in response to Manasseh Azure Awuni‘s comment on September 11, 2025, in which he expressed disappointment and despair about the country’s fight against illegal mining.

In Manasseh’s post on Facebook, he noted that the president’s method in handling galamsey clearly demonstrates a lack of seriousness and failure.
