Ghana’s Minister for Communications, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has issued a firm response to MultiChoice Ghana following their latest statement dismissing any agreement to reduce DStv subscription fees.

In the company’s press release dated September 5, 2025, MultiChoice clarified that while it remains committed to engaging the Ministry through the established Working Committee, it has not agreed to a price reduction. The company emphasized that any decision must ensure the viability of its services.

However, Hon. Sam George did not take kindly to this position. Taking to his social media pages, the Minister described MultiChoice’s stance as disrespect to Ghanaians and warned that the government would not tolerate such behavior.

“Let me be clear, I have no intention to continue tolerating the disrespect to Ghanaians by DStv. If MultiChoice is not interested as they claim in their last statement, in discussing a reduction in prices as they had indicated to me, we would proceed to effect the shutdown tomorrow as indicated,” he stated.

According to him, DStv had previously requested the Ministry to suspend its enforcement action while negotiations continued on pricing. But with the company’s latest communication, the Minister stressed that regulatory measures will now take their course.

He concluded by reiterating that Ghana remains open for business, but only for companies willing to respect national laws and institutions.
