In a move that signals serious intent from newly-promoted Ghana Premier League side, Hohoe United FC, the club has officially secured the signature of one of Division One’s most lethal forwards, Adamu Alhassan, affectionately known in football circles as “Conso.”
The 25-year-old right-footed striker, born at Elmina in Ghana’s Central Region, joins Hohoe United on a lucrative two-year deal, according to sources, although the signing fee has not been disclosed.
The transfer marks a major coup for the Volta-based outfit as they prepare for their debut campaign in Ghana’s top flight.
From Elmina’s Streets to the Premier Stage
Alhassan’s journey is one of grit, talent, and relentless ambition. Raised in a modest village on the outskirts of Elmina, his footballing gifts were evident from an early age.

He earned a sports scholarship through the KEEA Constituency to attend Aggrey Memorial High School one of Ghana’s most prestigious institutions. There, he quickly rose to prominence, captaining the Central Regional high school team to victory in the 2018 Inter-Regional Championship in Cape Coast, where he also claimed the Golden Boot.
His exploits earned him local hero status, with fans in Cape Coast and Elmina nicknaming him “Conso,” a nod to his consistency and flair.
Division One Dominance
Alhassan burst onto the national scene in 2023 with Elmina Sharks, in the Access Bank Division One League, where he finished as the top scorer in Zone 2 with 13 goals.
His performances earned him a move to Karela United, where he continued to impress scoring 5 goals in 11 appearances and earning two Man of the Match awards.
His impact was phenomenal in helping Karela avoid relegation in the 2024/2025 GPL season, especially when he was used sporadically. He played 64% of available minutes, showcasing his durability and tactical importance.
His Ghana Premier League debut came in style, netting a brace against Aduana Stars and announcing himself as a top-tier talent.
Trials Abroad and Development Stints
Beyond Ghana’s borders, Alhassan has tested himself in Europe, undergoing trials with Austria Vienna and clubs in the Netherlands. He also spent time in the UAE under football development programs, sharpening his technical and physical attributes.
What Hohoe United Gains
Hohoe United’s acquisition of Alhassan is more than just a signing, it’s a statement of the club’s ambition. The club, fresh off promotion, is building a squad capable of competing, not just surviving.
With Alhassan’s proven goal-scoring record, international exposure, and leadership pedigree, HUFC adds firepower and experience to its attacking line.
Club insiders describe the deal as “strategic and forward-looking,” with Alhassan expected to be a cornerstone of their offensive setup.
Player Reaction
While official comments from Alhassan remain reserved, sources close to the player suggest he’s “excited by the challenge” and “ready to lead from the front.” His arrival has already sparked buzz among Hohoe fans, eager to see their new talisman in action.
As the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season approaches, all eyes will be on Hohoe United and on Adamu Alhassan Conso, the village boy turned goal machine, now poised to write a new chapter in Ghanaian football.
