Dancehall musician Stonebwoy has said he deserves an unqualified apology from Ghanaians for what he described as unwarranted criticism following his appearance on a platform hosted by Ghanaian-UK-based disc jockey, DJ AG.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on July 16, 2025, Stonebwoy expressed disappointment over how some netizens openly lambasted him after becoming the first Ghanaian artist to feature on the platform. He revealed that the backlash negatively affected his brand.

“There’s this big Nigerian industry player who went into the comment section and said Ghanaians should be grateful to have me. I became so shy, because it was my own people who were criticising me,” he said.

In a humorous twist, Stonebwoy added that those who criticised him could send him mobile money as a form of apology.

“If you know you said something against me, I deserve an apology. You can also send me MoMo because that’s important to me too,” he said, laughing.

His remarks come in the wake of Nigerian afro-fusion star Burna Boy’s recent appearance on the same platform—an event that drew wide praise and seemed to contrast sharply with the earlier criticism Stonebwoy received.

DJ AG’s platform has featured global icons such as British singer Ed Sheeran, actor Will Smith, and Ghanaian artists including Wendy Shay and Black Sherif.
