Renowned Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Nii Addo Quayno, also known as Tinny, has stated that he has no obligation to help rising rappers and artistes in the industry.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Tinny‘s attention was brought to some comments by some upcoming Ghanaian acts that he does not support them in any way.

In response, Tinny firmly stated that no artiste is compelled to help another and that success is possible independently, with or without his involvement.

“Is it by force to help or mentor someone? Even me, who helped me? Nobody featured me before I could come into this industry.

“So why are they waiting for me?… You can do it without anybody. Believe in yourself, you can do it without Tinny,” he asserted.

Tinny clarified that he does assist upcoming acts, but such help is given voluntarily.

“I don’t feel pressured to help anyone. Those I’ve helped, they know. It’s not by force. I also believe in time. Eventually, they will make it,” he added.

He highlighted the contributions he makes through performances and events: “I do programs, I do shows, I put them on. So I do a lot for them.”

He cited some other music icons, questioning why he is being pressured.

“I remember someone pointed out that Samini, Sarkodie and others brought people on, so what about me? And I replied, Bob Marley, Amakye Dede and Michael Jackson, who did they help? So it’s not by force for me,” he said.
