Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Satellites, wrapped up their Group A campaign at the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Boys Cup with a tough 1-0 win over Benin on Wednesday July 16, 2025, sealing second place behind rivals Nigeria.

With both nations finishing on four points, goal difference proved decisive. Nigeria’s earlier 4-1 thrashing of Benin edged them into top spot, leaving Ghana just short despite their unbeaten run.

In their final match at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Ghana showed character.

Playing with ten men for the entire second half, they dug deep to hold onto a slender lead.

Golden Kick FC winger Bless Ege netted the all-important goal in the 52nd minute after latching onto a perfect through ball from captain Aziz Misbau.

Ghana’s first-half chances were few, with goalkeeper Gidios Aseako keeping things level with a fine save in the 31st minute.

The match turned tense after Kelvin Nkrumah of Medeama SC received a second yellow.

But despite Benin’s pressure and a missed chance by Peter Amidu Acquah, the Satellites held on.
