Former President of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Katrina Adams, is thrilled to be in Ghana, where she is leading a tennis clinic alongside former ATP Top 100 player Roger Smith.

The clinic, organised by the Africa10 Foundation and the Ghana Tennis Federation, aims to inspire and energise young players and coaches through interactive training and mentorship.

Adams expressed her excitement, citing recent successes by players like Coco Gauff and Madison Keys, saying, “It’s really exciting… hopefully, our kids are getting excited about wanting to be in tennis.”

Additionally, Katrina said she is passionate about sharing her knowledge with Ghana’s youth, emphasising the importance of representation and motivation in sports.

She also stressed the need to extend this enthusiasm globally, particularly to Ghana.

“I know we are in America, and hopefully, they are getting excited in the rest of the world, and particularly here in Ghana,” she added.

Adams, who is headlining the two-day event with former Bahamian tennis star Roger Smith, noted that the goal of the clinic is to inspire and energise young players and their coaches through engagement, training, and mentorship.

Tennis players aged between seven and 17 will receive guidance from Adams and Smith at the clinic, which has been organised by the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) in partnership with the Africa10 Foundation (A10).

Katrina Adams, a former professional doubles player, won 20 WTA doubles titles and reached the semifinals at Wimbledon in 1988.

Beyond her success on the court, she made history as the first African-American and former professional player to lead the USTA.
