Ghanaian influencer Gisela Ama Amponsah has stated that she left the Rants Bants and Confessions podcast because the producers failed to protect her.

Gisela, who co-hosted the second season of the show alongside her best friend Ama Burland and socialite Efia Odo, said she felt unprotected and used by the show’s producers, Glitch Africa.

In a Q&A session with Ama Burland on Let’s Do Drink, aired on The Creative Inc. YouTube channel on May 29, 2025, Gisela explained that the environment on the podcast became toxic for her.

She said she felt exposed and unprotected by the production team and decided to leave for the sake of her peace of mind.

“There was just too much drama and I wasn’t feeling protected by the producers. They put me out there to be pounced on by predators, I felt I was set up a lot,” she stated.

According to her, there were moments when she tried to take control of certain situations, but the producers didn’t allow her to. She claimed that it became clear the producers were more interested in views and online engagement than the well-being of the hosts.

“There were a few times I tried to control certain situations and they won’t allow me. To me it seems what they cared about was the views, they didn’t care about the mental health or the people on the show so I was like you know what, I don’t even need them,” she said.

Gisela also gave specific examples of moments when she felt disrespected. One such incident happened during an episode that discussed galamsey and protests.

She recalled being criticised online for scratching her leg, something she considered normal, only to realise that the producers had zoomed the camera on that exact moment.

“There was this episode where we spoke about galamsey and the protest and I had so many people coming at me because I was scratching my leg, I am a human being, I will itch, and they zoomed into that bit,” she explained.

She also shared another incident where she and Ama Burland were gossiping about someone on set. Gisela noted that she whispered the person’s name, but the camera zoomed in on her mouth, making it easy for viewers to read her lips and identify the person they were talking about.

“There was another instance where we were gossiping about somebody on set and you were asking me who I was talking about and I whispered the person’s name to you and they zoomed into my mouth to show who I was talking about,” she said.
