Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Gyakie, has narrated the inspiration behind the title of her album ‘After Midnight’.

Speaking in an interview on ‘Daybreak Hitz’ with Doreen Avio on May 23, 2025, Gyakie revealed that the name of the album was influenced by the timing and atmosphere of the recording sessions.

The ‘Rent Free’ hitmaker explained that most of the songs were recorded after midnight, a time she finds most creative and peaceful.

“This project, every time I talk about it, I feel like a mother about to give birth to her first child,” she said. “I’ve always believed that an album represents an artist, especially your first or debut album.”

She continued, “The name After Midnight came from how and when the songs were recorded. Most of the studio sessions took place after midnight. I like to record at dawn because that’s when most people are asleep, and everything is quiet.

“That’s when I’m able to create properly. It has always been my favorite time of day, so the name of the project just made sense.”
