A private legal practitioner and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Ishaq Ibrahim, has advocated for the public disclosure of the health status of government officials.

Ibrahim argued that individuals who accept public roles should be prepared to sacrifice a degree of personal confidentiality in the interest of national accountability and public trust.

“Accepting a public role comes with responsibilities, including a level of transparency that may extend to personal matters like health status,” he said.

He said this on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on May 23, 2025.

Despite his stance on the disclosure of health status of government appointees, Ibrahim emphasised that it should not become a tool for political division.

Ibrahim, subsequently, cautioned against politicising the health of individuals.

“Health matters should unite us, not tear us apart. I urge for a more compassionate and respectful national discourse on the subject,” he noted.
