Ghanaian singer and songwriter Yaw Darling has shared his thoughts on being compared to other artistes in the music industry.

According to the 2025 TGMA Unsung Artiste of the Year, he considers it a compliment when people compare him to Kuami Eugene rather than Patapaa.

“If I’m being compared to Kuami Eugene and not Patapaa, it’s a good thing,” Yaw Darling stated in an interview on MX24 TV.

He explained that Kuami Eugene is someone he admires and looks up to in the Ghanaian music industry.

“Kuami Eugene is an inspiration to Ghanaian music, and he’s like a brother to me,” he said.

Yaw Darling believes that if people see similarities between him and Kuami Eugene, it means he is on the right path.

He noted that as a rising artiste, being likened to someone of Kuami Eugene’s stature is a sign of progress.

“As a new artiste, if people see some qualities of Kuami Eugene in me, it means I’m doing something right, because Kuami Eugene is one of the greatest singers in Ghana,” he added.
