Veteran Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku has advised the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, to be discreet when giving out gifts to people in public.
In a video that has gone viral on X, Banku demonstrated that it is advisable to turn one’s back and give the gift to someone without the public spotting the exact gift, rather than handing it over to the person directly in the eyes of everyone.
The former boxer stated that making such a prestigious gift known in public triggers unwarranted criticisms and attacks.
“Gyamfi, you’re a graduate and people respect you a lot but this time Ghanaian politics is dirty. If you’re giving money to someone, don’t count it and give it to the person directly.
“Instead, turn your back and use one hand to give it to the person discreetly so that nobody sees it. Otherwise, people will say negative things about you when they see it. Now you see the trouble you’ve caused?” he said in a viral video.
Banku also questioned why Gyamfi would gift Nana Agradaa who is a staunch critic of President John Dramani Mahama.
“Your apology letter to NDC has been accepted and don’t repeat it another time. Agradaa has been insulting Mahama,” he added.
Background
In a video that went viral on social media platform X, Gyamfi was seen standing beside his Range Rover, taking a photo with Nana Agradaa, who had her arm around him.
Agradaa was then heard making a comment to Sammy Gyamfi, prompting him to open the back door of the vehicle and count US dollar notes to give to her.
She demanded all the notes and grabbed them from his hands before walking away from the scene.
This sparked massive backlash on social media, with netizens calling on the government to take action against Sammy Gyamfi.
