California Senator Adam Schiff was roasted after revealing that Democrats in the Golden State have a huge problem, something he found after his luggage was stolen in San Francisco.
Schiff, 64, recalled a life-changing moment for him on HBO‘s Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night after the host grilled him on crime and homelessness.
‘We going to have to change how we do business in California. We’re going to have to address people’s legitimate concerns with crime,’ the father-of-two told Maher. ‘Democrats need to show that we can get s**t done.’
The politician came face-to-face with California’s raging crime problem two years in San Francisco when a thief stole his luggage out of his trunk while he was there for business.
‘They tell you don’t ever leave your luggage in the car. I never do, until the one time I did,’ he told Maher. ‘And, of course, it got stolen.’
However, the crime itself wasn’t the most ‘memorable’ thing about the experience, but his trip to Target to pick up toiletries and other supplies to survive the next few days.
While checking out, he was offered a bag to put his items in, which he accepted, telling the cashier that the item was going to be his luggage for the next few days. When she asked why, he told her, prompting a startling response.
‘She basically said – in not so many words – that Democrats are a**holes,’ he recalled.

‘And I thought, you know, if the cashier in South San Francisco at 10 o’clock at night believes that Democrats are a**holes because the shampoo is locked up and my stuff got stolen out of the trunk, we’ve got a major problem that we have to address.’
‘I hope all the Democrats listen to that story,’ Maher replied.
But it seems Republicans certainly did listen and they were happy with Schiff’s story.
‘Pencil neck Adam Schiff caused the mess in California and now he is reaping the benefits. FAFO [f**k around and find out],’ one wrote on X.
‘That was two years ago, he recognized a problem that needed to be addressed. Guess what it still hasn’t been addressed,’ another wrote.
‘Absolutely hilarious how he doesn’t understand normal people,’ a third wrote. ‘I’m glad he’s having this experience. Maybe if they had to live through this every freaking day, they wouldn’t be such a**holes — because that’s exactly what they are.
‘They’re putting people through this “catch and release,” not prosecuting illegal immigrants or criminals, and then what do you think is going to happen? Of course, people think you’re an a**hole — because you are.’
In the last year, Schiff has been the punching bag for Republicans, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and Donald Trump, who made fun of his appearance.

Republicans were certainly were not happy with Schiff’s story, blaming him and Democrats for the downfall of the state
Even Governor Gavin Newsom – who is rumored to be a 2028 presidential contender – was stumped when it came to how Democrats need to fix their party.
‘I don’t know what the party is,’ he said in a sit-down with The Hill’s Amie Parnes. ‘I’m still struggling with that.’
The candid answer comes as Newsom said the party hasn’t done enough self-reflection about what happened last year.
‘We have not done a forensic of what just went wrong, period, full stop,’ Newsom said. ‘I don’t think it, I know it.
‘I mean, to the extent that I’m marginally part of this party, I represent the state larger than 21 state populations combined, and I can assure you there’s not been a party discussion that I’m aware of that has included the state of California.’
