Police arrest seven people in London raids after acid attack on man in his 30s – with charges including conspiracy to murder

Police have arrested seven people, including charges for conspiracy to kidnap and murder, following an alleged acid attack in which a man sustained serious injuries in Plymouth.

Devon & Cornwall Police, along with the Metropolitan Police, charged six men in their 20s at a number of addresses in Central London yesterday.

A woman in her 30s was then arrested in Plymouth.

The arrests come after a ‘brutal’ acid attack on a man in his 30s on Lipson Road, Plymouth in the early hours of the morning.

The acid attack, described as a ‘serious assault’, took place in February when two men allegedly tried to force their way into a property as they assaulted the occupant.

The attack was ‘isolated’ and ‘targeted’ and is believed to have been linked to organised crime, police said at the time.

The victim of the ‘terrifying’ attack was taken to hospital with serious injuries and his family were being supported by specialist officers.

Officers said a week after the attack the perpetrators had fled Devon before being spotted in the rural village of Chippenham in Wiltshire, but now believe they have left that county as well.

The suspects are due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 12 April.

This is a breaking story – more to follow.
