The Member of Parliament for Tain, Adama Sulemana, has called on the government to investigate allegations of betting tax deductions introduced under the previous administration.

The betting tax, initially intended to generate revenue for development projects, has become a subject of controversy following remarks by former Finance minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adams, who denied that the NPP government never enacted laws to implement the tax.

His denial has fueled widespread debate, with many questioning who authorized the deductions and how the funds have been utilized.

Speaking in an interview with CTV’s Gordon Desmond Sackitey, Adama stressed the need for transparency and accountability, urging the government to conduct a thorough probe to uncover the truth behind the alleged deductions.

He emphasized that public funds must be managed responsibly, and any irregularities regarding the betting tax must be properly investigated to ensure accountability.
