The Accra High Court has ordered Accra Hearts of Oak to pay an amount of GH¢108,637 to their former Commercial Affairs Manager, Charles Kwarteng, over wrongful dismissal.

According to ghanasoccernet, the presiding judge, Anna Akosua Appiah Gottfried Anaafi Gyasi, ruled that the contract between Hearts of Oak and Kwarteng was valid before termination.

Although the Phobians argued against the claim, they did not provide enough evidence to substantiate their claims.

Upon investigation, the court discovered that Hearts of Oak withheld Kwarteng’s salary in August 2021, did not pay his Tier 2 pension contributions for 24 months, and did not pay fuel allowances for 17 months.

In the court’s ruling, the presiding judge stated that Kwarteng had a valid case and deserved compensation for using his private vehicle for official work.

    The judge’s orders include:

Payment of salary arrears: GH¢10,987 and full salary for August 2021

Payment of fuel allowance: GH¢24,650 for 17 months

Compensation for Private Vehicle Use: GH¢50,000

Payment of Tier 2 pension contributions: Full contributions for 24 months

Legal costs: GH¢20,000 to be paid to the plaintiff
