Reports gathered by GhanaWeb Business indicate that the Board of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has approved the nomination of Edward Ato Sarpong as its new Managing Director.
The majority shareholder of ADB nominated Sarpong, a Chartered Accountant and former Deputy Minister of Communications, to lead the bank.
In a statement issued on February 6, 2025, the ADB Board confirmed the nomination, which is, however, subject to regulatory approvals from the Bank of Ghana, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Ghana Stock Exchange.
The statement further reveals that the Board convened last week to interview Sarpong before formally approving his nomination. If all regulatory clearances are secured, he is expected to assume office on February 10, 2025.
Sarpong will succeed Alhassan Yakubu Tali, who resigned from his position on February 5, 2025.
