Popular Nigerian actor, Chiwetalu Agu has taken to his Instagram page to share some marriage advice.

The thespian could be seen in the video advising partners to leave their marriage if it becomes a toxic one.

According to him, marriage is not a do-or-die affair, and a divorce is way better than a rest in peace.

The actor had offered this advice following the death of a woman who was set ablaze by her husband over a misunderstanding.

The man who is currently in police custody claimed he suspected that his wife was having an affair, which led to him setting her on fire after she denied it.

The actor could be heard in the video saying; “Marriage is not a do-or-die affair, If you have an abusive partner run for your life, If you’re in a toxic relationship run for your life, If you’re not happy in your marriage to seek help and run for your life. Divorce is better than rest in peace, I want to stay because of my children, I want to stay because he is rich. Always make sure to run a background check before proceeding to marry someone. I pray we don’t make mistakes that will cost us our lives”

While the majority agreed with the actor others joined in advising people in toxic relationships/marriage to seek help.
