Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was killed, and two others were injured, in a knife fight in Melbourne on Friday night.

The fight occurred at McBurnie Drive, in Kuranjang, near Melton, in Melbourne‘s north-west, just after 7pm on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the scene following reports a fight had broken out between a group of people.

Officers found three men injured at the scene, however despite the best efforts of paramedics, one victim was declared dead.

The two others were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been set up and officers are investigating what may have caused the incident.

‘At this early stage in the investigation, it’s believed the parties involved in the brawl were known to each other,’ Victoria Police said in a statement.

    No one has been arrested.

Police have cordoned off the area and the street is expected to be blocked off well into Saturday morning.

Anyone, who witnessed the incident, has dash cam or CCTV footage or information has been urged to contacted Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
