The Head of Financial Crime Management of Fidelity Bank Ghana, Ransford Nana Addo Jnr, has noted that despite ensuring passwords to mobile banking apps are memorable and easy to remember, it is important to ensure that no one can guess them.

According to him, using pins and passwords such as dates of birth or year of birth can put a person at risk of being hacked.

He added that anyone who has access to your IDs can guess the password to your bank account and this may put you at risk of losing your money.

Speaking to Mawuli Ahorlumegah on GhanaWeb TV on the subject of ‘Mobile and online banking; top risks and how to protect yourself,’ he noted that passwords and pins must be carefully crafted.

“Your password or your pin is like your key to your bank account. And unfortunately, in our part of the world, we have some people using their date of birth as their pin. That can easily be guessed. Anybody who knows you or is close to you can compromise you,” he said.
