Kumawood actor turned pastor, Prophet Ogyaba, has narrated how he has accumulated wealth from small-scale mining in the country.

Speaking in an interview on Kingdom FM, Prophet Ogyaba noted that he became rich from gold mining and not acting.

He emphasised that because of the money he acquired from mining, he didn’t make use of the money he earned from acting.

“Akrobeto can attest to the fact that when I entered into movies, I didn’t spend the money given to me from acting. When they pay me for my acting, I would share all the money with the crew members. I didn’t even hold their money. The money we have truly spent on this earth is money from gold.

“So if the incoming government can teach the youth how to engage in small-scale mining (galamsey) without polluting our water bodies, no one would die. And they should cover the pit when they are done, so they can use it for farming; it is a good thing. Moreover, there is money beneath the earth,” he said.

He added that he used to visit Kumawood sets to donate cash and gifts for the actors as a way of support.

“I used to give Kwadwo Nkansah money. I would go to a movie set and distribute gifts and other things to the crew. Those days Agya Koo and I were using Escalade,” he added.

Prophet Ogyaba also noted that he ventured into small-scale mining when he began his ministry.

“I started mining when I was doing the world of God. So, I had specific days I would go and mine, and other days I would use for church. I was doing all these with my brother-in-law called Adu. He would go and secure the land, then I will pay for it, so we start the mining activity because it also helped the youth there,” he said.
