The Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan Constituency, in the Western Region, Mr Joe Ghartey, has touted his contributions to the socio-economic welfare of the constituents in the last two decades.

According to him, numerous developments brought to the constituency, under his tenure was a testament to his dedication to duty.

Mr Ghartey, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, mentioned the construction of Astro Tuffs, CHPS compounds, school blocks, roads as significant projects he brought to the area.

He said: “I am proud of my achievements, and I know I have gained favour both in the sight of the people and God”.

Mr Ghartey thanked the constituents for the opportunity to serve in the last four years under the New Patriotic Party.

Meanwhile, the NPP failed to retain the Essikado-Ketan seat in the December 7 parliamentary election, which was won by the NDC.

Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, a surgeon and NDC Member of Parliament-elect would now serve the constituency.

She polled a total of 26,166 votes to beat Mr Charles Bissue, the NPP candidate, who had 17,754 in an election which saw 79, 344 voter turnout.

The election in the constituency though largely peaceful, saw pockets of agitation, destruction of ballot boxes, particularly at the collation centre, and assault on security personnel and journalists stationed there.

Dr Ayensu-Danquah promised to bring development to the constituency to improve the living standards of the people.
