As Ghanaians prepare to cast their votes in the much-anticipated elections on Saturday, December 7, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has made a strong call for a peaceful, credible, free, and fair electoral process.

The Union, a key representative body for the music industry, has been vocal in promoting a peaceful atmosphere as the nation approaches this crucial event in its democratic calendar.

In a statement, MUSIGA expressed its appreciation to the musicians who have actively contributed to the promotion of peace through their music. Over the past months, various artists have used their platform to create awareness around the importance of maintaining peace before, during, and after the elections. These songs have played a pivotal role in uniting Ghanaians from all walks of life in the spirit of peace and solidarity.

MUSIGA also acknowledged the Ghanaian public for their exemplary behaviour in maintaining calm during the lead-up to the election. The Union urged citizens to keep up the positive momentum by fostering tranquility in the final days leading up to December 7 and beyond.

“The Musicians Union of Ghana commends all Ghanaians for their restraint and composure thus far, and encourages them to continue upholding the values of peace and unity,” the statement read. “Elections are not meant to divide us; rather, they offer us the opportunity to select the best options for the future development of our nation.”

The Union emphasized that regardless of the election outcomes, it is important for all citizens to remain united. Elections are an expression of democratic choice, not a reason for discord or division. MUSIGA has called on the public to view the election as a moment of choosing the right leadership to guide the country towards growth and prosperity.

MUSIGA President, Bessa Simons, reminded the public that their voices, both in song and action, have the power to shape the future of the nation. “Let us come together as one nation, using our voices and actions to promote unity and peace. Together, we can ensure that our democracy thrives in a respectful and harmonious environment.”

The statement concluded with a strong call to action for all Ghanaians to play their part in ensuring a peaceful election. “Together, we will ensure that our democracy remains a shining example of unity and progress for the world to see.”

As the country prepares for this important democratic exercise, MUSIGA’s message serves as a timely reminder of the power of peace and unity in shaping the nation’s future.
