Media personality Abena Moet has praised Ghanaian musician Mzbel for her pioneering role in the music industry.

According to her, Mzbel’s provocative and scandalous actions during her time in the music industry paved the way for many contemporary female artistes in the industry.

“Mzbel crawled so artistes like Ebony, S3fa, and Wendy Shay could walk. She went through a lot in this industry. She brought the whole “Diva” vibe to the industry,” she stated.

Reflecting on Mzbel‘s iconic “Sweet 16” music video, Moet noted that the outfits, once considered provocative, are now commonplace.

“The outfit she wore in the video, which caused so much controversy, if you look at it now, it wasn’t really provocative. What we saw as so much, it wasn’t all that. But it was a big deal then.

“Now, she’s the reason why a lot of things we see our female artistes doing have been normalized,” Moet added.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Adom TV, Mzbel said she was disappointed with her not being recognised for her role in the industry.
