So just what, exactly, had Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise so fascinated in the VIP Suite of Arrowhead Stadium during her husband Travis Kelce‘s Monday Night Football performance?
Television viewers were understandably curious about the topic of conversation between the veteran actor and pop singer after they were pictured by ESPN during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 1 win over the visiting Denver Broncos.
Obviously, the luxury box isn’t equipped with microphones, but Nicola Hickling, an expert analyst and professional lipreader, was able to reveal to The Daily Mail what was said between the pop sensation and the Hollywood star.
‘It’s the structure of the entire infrastructure of the audience that’s what I love in a positive way,’ Swift said, according to Hickling, the founder of LipReader.
Although the first part of Cruise’s response was lost as ESPN switched cameras, Hickling was able to pick up on the actor’s words a moment later.
‘You may not know it, but you do have a job,’ he said.

The Opalite singer was also accompanied by a full entourage of friends and family. Her dad, Scott, sat on her other side, dressed in a bright red Chiefs sweater, despite his Philadelphia Eagles fandom.

Meanwhile, Swift’s attendance at the Chiefs season opener had been cast in doubt with the 2026 Emmys also taking place on Monday evening.
The hitmaker was nominated for a slew of Emmys this year. Her 2025 concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour – The Final Show, was nominated for five awards, including Best Variety Special (Prerecorded) and Best Directing for a Variety Special.
However, Swift snubbed the glitzy A-list ceremony after her concert movie failed to win in any of the categories at the Creative Arts Emmys, which were held earlier this month.
Instead, the pop star chose to cheer on her new husband as he started his 14th – and potentially final – season in the NFL.
