Talented Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has opened up about one of her deepest fears as a person.
The musician who is born Francisca Duncan Williams Gawugah, has often spoken about the important role her family has played in her life and career.
In fact, Sista Afia has in some past interviews described her family as a major source of support for her music career.

In 2018, she pushed back against claims that a man was financing her career, insisting that it was her family, especially her mother who has also played a particularly significant role in her journey.
Sista Afia revealed that her mother had personally paid for some of her music videos, including “Party,” “Asuoden” and “Jeje,” when she could not afford to finance them herself.
The singer has also publicly shared affectionate moments with her mother, including celebrating her birthday and describing her in loving terms.
Against this backdrop of strong family ties, Sista Afia took to social media to reveal that one of her biggest fears is ending up as a single mother without the love, commitment and family structure she has always envisioned.
Taking to X on Monday, September 14, 2026, the singer admitted that the increasing number of single mothers she sees around her has made her seriously think about the kind of family she wants to build.
“Seeing how many single mothers there are in this generation honestly scares me,” she wrote.
Sista Afia made it clear that motherhood itself is not what frightens her.
“I’m not afraid of motherhood, but I’m afraid of becoming a single mother or just a ‘baby mama’ without the love, commitment, and family I always envisioned,” she stated.
She went on to explain that her dream is bigger than simply having children.
“I want to build a home, not just have a child,” she declared.
The singer ended the post with an even more emotional admission, saying that the possibility of not having the family she has always imagined scares the hell out of her.
