Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has revealed that Sarkodie reported him to the police following a heated confrontation at the Independence Square during the rapper’s virtual Black Love Concert in August 2020.
Stonebwoy opened up about the incident during a TikTok Live session on September 8, 2026, providing details of what happened before, during and after the disagreement that brought the police into the matter.
According to the Burniton Music boss, he travelled from Togo to Ghana to support Sarkodie’s concert even though he was unwell. He said his experience at the venue, however, left him deeply upset, claiming that he was subjected to what he described as “inhumane treatment” by Sarkodie and his team.

Stonebwoy said he spent several hours backstage and eventually fell asleep there while waiting for developments at the event. He claimed that when he woke up, he realised that circumstances at the venue were different from what he had initially been told.
“I came all the way, I landed, I came there, the backstage, and you guys gave me the inhumane treatment. I am not blaming you directly for it, but it’s your name only. Y’all gave me the inhumane treatment ever. You humiliated me, kept me behind the stage,” he said.
The situation, according to Stonebwoy, became tense when he confronted Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town, after becoming frustrated by what had transpired.
He said allegations later emerged that he had slapped or attempted to hit Angel Town. Stonebwoy denied deliberately assaulting him and questioned why he would travel all the way to attend the concert and cause trouble while he was already sick.
“Then they told me, say I came to hit him, I came to slap him. All of those ones were on the side. That notwithstanding, if I had the intention to hit or slap or cause chaos, would I come there in the first place when I’m sick?” he asked.
Despite being told that he would not perform, Stonebwoy said he remained at the venue until the concert ended. He attributed his decision to stay to the discipline he had been taught while growing up.
“I humbly stood there with the discipline and principle that I have in my heart as a boy grown well from home. Discipline, proper, proper. I stayed there at the backstage of the Independence Square the whole fucking night till you closed your show,” he stated.
Stonebwoy said he later decided to approach Sarkodie personally to clear the air. He explained that he denied slapping anyone but apologised after being informed that his hand had made contact with Angel Town’s eye during the confrontation.
“I decided to come and talk to you directly and say, yo, Killer, I no slap nobody. Boys dey hold boys, tempers flare. Boy said my hand entered ein eye. If my hand entered your eye, okay, cool. I’m here to apologise before I go. That’s what I did,” he recounted.
However, Stonebwoy claimed that his apology did not bring the matter to an end.
He alleged that Sarkodie and people associated with him subsequently reported the incident to the police, with the aim of having him arrested over the alleged injury to Angel Town.
According to Stonebwoy, the police investigation also involved an allegation that he had been carrying weapons during the confrontation.
“Somebody came to say I was holding a knife and I was holding guns in the statement. So the investigator asked him, say, are you sure? If we go investigate where this boy no hold anything you said, we will arrest you,” he recounted in pidgin.
Stonebwoy said he eventually took the matter public and apologised online, but now regrets doing so.
He explained that his decision to apologise publicly has continued to frustrate his lawyer, who, according to the musician, believes he accepted responsibility for an incident in which Stonebwoy maintains he did not deliberately assault anyone.
“Till today, my lawyer is angry at me for that move that I picked. Before they gonna realise, what did I do? I came online to come and apologise, rather as if I caused anything,” Stonebwoy further stated.
