T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School–Kumasi and Ibadur Rahman Academy have advanced to the next round of the 2026 LUV FM Kel-Charcoal High School Debate after impressive victories on Day Two of the competition.

The second day of the competition, held at the Christian Service University, delivered two engaging contests as students showcased their knowledge, critical thinking, confidence and ability to defend their positions under pressure.

The two schools emerged victorious after hard-fought battles against Okomfo Anokye SHS and Mankranso SHS, respectively.

The battle of intellects and fearless debaters continued with two action-packed contests, as emotion met logic in very powerful deliveries.

The opening contest of the day saw Mankranso SHS take on Ibadur Rahman Academy on the motion: “ECG should be privatized.”

Mankranso SHS argued in favor of the motion, while Ibadur Rahman Academy opposed it.

Both sides presented well-structured arguments and backed their positions with facts and logical reasoning. The contest also featured spirited rebuttals, making it a closely watched encounter.

At the end of the contest, however, Ibadur Rahman Academy emerged victorious with 210 points against Mankranso SHS’s 185, winning by a majority decision of the judges.

The victory sent the Ibadur Rahman camp into celebration, with the school’s Patron, Mr. Sabato, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to compete against any opponent in the subsequent stages.

“Today, we have announced to the whole of Ghana that indeed IBASS is here, and we are ready for anyone that comes our way,” he said.

The second contest produced another intriguing battle, with T.I. Amass, Kumasi facing Okomfo Anokye SHS, debating the motion: “MMDCEs should be elected.”

T.I. Amass argued for the motion, while Okomfo Anokye took the opposing position.

The two schools delivered strong arguments and counterarguments, with the rebuttal stage providing some of the most intense moments of the contest.

T.I. Amass, however, eventually established its dominance and secured a 213–192 victory, defeating Okomfo Anokye by a 21-point margin through a unanimous decision of the judges.

The victory will come as a boost to the inaugural champions, who are once again setting their sights on the ultimate prize as they would tell us they are coming for what they believe is truly theirs.

The principal speaker for T.I. Amass made the team’s intentions clear after their victory.

“We are ready for whoever comes our way. We are AMASS, and we are not going down without a fight.”

With the conclusion of Day Two, Ibadur Rahman Academy and T.I. Amass SHS join Kumasi Wesley Girls SHS and Christian Service Senior High School (CHRISSEC) as the first four schools to book their places in the next round.

The competition is expected to intensify as more schools take to the stage to battle for qualification and ultimately the championship.

The 2026 edition of the LUV FM Kel-Charcoal High School Debate continues to provide a platform for students to demonstrate their intellectual ability, public speaking skills and confidence while engaging with topical issues of national interest.

The competition is sponsored by Kelcharcoal Toothpaste, Didi Shito, Bigoo, The Seed Travelz, Serpo Mystical Pen, Verna Mineral Water, Jackson University College, Tamak, St. Ben Jewelry, Otuasekan Community Bank, and New Generation Investment Services.
