The legal battle between Hearts of Oak and former coach Rene Hiddink took another turn on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, when the case was heard at the Tema High Court.

During proceedings, Hearts of Oak officially filed their “Terms of Settlement” as the club attempted to resolve the matter outside a full court ruling. The Phobians proposed paying one year’s salary calculated at a net monthly figure of $4,800, amounting to a total of $57,600.

The Ghana Premier League giants also offered to pay outstanding salary arrears of $2,400, bringing the proposed settlement package to a total of $60,000. The amount is significantly lower than the original $146,400 compensation plus five percent annual interest being sought by Hiddink for alleged breach of contract.

However, legal representatives of Rene Hiddink reportedly rejected the settlement proposal presented by Hearts of Oak. They further informed the court that they were no longer interested in pursuing any settlement discussions with the club.

Following the rejection, the court directed Hearts of Oak to file their written submissions within the next two weeks as the legal process continues. The development means the case now moves closer toward a possible final ruling.

The matter has subsequently been adjourned to May 19, 2026, where the court is expected to set a date for its ruling on the long-running dispute between Hearts of Oak and their former trainer.
