DJ Mensah has shared a vivid behind-the-scenes account of the iconic 2013 Guinness Big Eruption Concert, which saw Samini “survive” a difficult crowd.

In a resurfaced video currently making waves on social media, Samini recounted how he felt “disowned” by the music industry that night, as the massive crowd appeared firmly behind Shatta Wale.

“All the big MCs, when they came on stage, they would chant ‘SM for Life.’ They didn’t want to be associated with me… I don’t blame them. If they didn’t do that, they would have been booed off the stage. But I wasn’t afraid. I had to come and defend my turf,” he narrated.

In a series of posts on X, DJ Mensah, the official DJ for the event, recalled the crowd’s intense energy and resistance to anything associated with Samini.

“Nothing made sense to the crowd except one thing: screaming ‘Wale! Wale!’… The first banter was about who was coming on stage first — Shatta Wale or Samini. The tension was so high we had to shut everything down for about 10 minutes just to calm the situation,” he recalled.

According to Mensah, Shatta Wale was unwell that evening and arrived at the stadium straight from the hospital, which delayed his performance. However, it was Samini’s entrance that ultimately changed the atmosphere.

“Samini didn’t step on stage until about another 10 minutes later, but when he finally walked out… like Goliath… everything changed.

“The same crowd that was shouting ‘crucify him’ suddenly started jumping, taking off their shirts, and waving them in the air,” he wrote.

He praised Samini’s resilience under pressure and singled out the artiste’s manager, Tony Pun, for standing firm despite the hostile crowd.

Mensah described the night not merely as a performance but as a defining moment of growth, perseverance, and sheer determination.

“They were clearly waiting for him. What a night. It wasn’t just about the performance. That night was about growth, perseverance, and real do-or-die. He walked on stage heavy, stood his ground, and finished strong. Not many artists could survive that kind of pressure,” he concluded.

I was the official DJ that night… I’ll never forget this day.

So many memories. I’m grateful I witnessed it.

I stand to be corrected, but Wale wasn’t feeling well that night…his convoy moved straight from the hospital to the stadium.

Samini owned his time and left the stage on a very high note.

That night, he earned double respect from me 🔥🔥🔥 https://t.co/btRkIBlcM0
