Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur D-Black has opened up about the support he gave to rapper Joey B during the early stages of his career.

Speaking in an interview on MX24 on February 16, 2026, D-Black explained that his decision to back Joey B was inspired by the help he received when he was starting in the music industry.

“Joey B was very talented. The way someone helped me in 2010, that was the same way I felt like supporting him. When God uses someone to bless you, you should do the same thing in return for someone else so that was how I was thinking then,” he said.

According to him, by 2013, Joey B needed a strong push, and he stepped in to provide that opportunity.

“In 2013, he needed someone to push him and after putting him on a song, I realized people liked what he was doing, so I decided to help him,” he stated.

D-Black, however, disclosed that financially, he did not recover the money he invested in Joey B’s career.

“To be honest, I didn’t recoup what I invested in him, but I didn’t help him for that. I did it just to support a brother the same way someone supported me,” he shared.

The rapper further revealed that the person who helped him in 2010 continues to play a key role in his music career.

“The guy who helped me in 2010 still mixes my songs to date. He’s 50 now, but he’s still the one who mixes my songs. The studio in my house and the studio at the record label, he’s the one who set it up. Just paying back the benefits I got from someone who helped me,” D-Black added.
